Accessibility

Our commitment, the standard we build to, and how to tell us when we fall short.

The standard

This platform is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That covers colour contrast, keyboard operability, focus visibility, semantic structure, alternative text and support for reduced-motion preferences.

What that means in practice

Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring. The interactive map has a complete list-based equivalent. Animation is suppressed when your system requests reduced motion. Images carry descriptive alternative text rather than filenames.

Known limitations

Full Amharic and Afaan Oromoo translations of every page are still in progress; the language selector currently sets document language and typography while the message catalogues are completed.

Tell us

If any part of this platform is difficult to use, write to accessibility@ethiopia.example.gov.et describing what you were trying to do. We treat accessibility defects as functional defects.
